Proposed BOLT Service Changes
Staff has proposed some adjustements in the BOLT service. As the attached article indicates, they plan to maintain high frequency service during peak commute hours, but significanlty cut-back on off-peak frequencies:

Very clearly, as Chris Jones from the City notes, the service reductions will impact riders who travel on the BOLT route during off-peak periods. There also is a concern that ridership during peak hours will drop as a consequence of the decreased convenience for indivduals who might need to take one commute trip (even if it is on an irregular basis) during the off-peak periods.
But, at this point, I am not hearing significant arguments with the logic of RTD’s proposed service changes for the BOLT. RTD is picking-up significant new service costs to replace the expiring federal grant that funded the BOLT, just not the full $807,000. I do look forward to the upcoming public hearings, though, and seeing if there is a strong case for adjusting the initial staff proposal.
