As some of you may have already heard, RTD is proposing significant changes for some bus routes in Boulder County. You can access information on all of the proposed changes at the following link: http://www.rtd-denver.com/ServiceChanges.shtml.
The Camera has done a very good job covering the discussions around these proposed service changes. You can access their stories at the following links:

As you can see from the coverage, the changes to Route 205 are the most significant and would have the most serious impacts to our local riders. I know that RTD staff and City of Boulder officials are discussing alternative adjustments in the Route 205 service which will preserve the 15 minute peak-hour frequencies. I am encouraging these efforts.
However, I am not certain where the final staff recommendation will land. I will try to keep this site up to date on the latest information, but please let me know if you have further input on the proposed service changes.

John, I strongly oppose the cutting the 205C service. It will devastate our service along Spine Rd. in Gunbarrel. This cut would equates to a 2/3 loss of service along Spine Rd. Not only does that mean a loss to us, but a loss to RTD as well since Spine Rd provides RTD’s system with many riders from our many neighborhoods, condo complexes, and businesses (Celestial, Covidian, Leaning Tree, etc.). Please do whatever you can, John, to not let this happen. We need this service. Plus we have been putting money into RTD through a couple of neighborhood Eco-Pass programs as well as a tax, I believe, which we passed a couple of years ago with Boulder County which I believe listed the 205 (I know the J bus was listed).
Kathryn: Thank you very much for your input . . . and there is good news to report. Due to some additional revenue that RTD will be securing next year, I joined my RTD Board colleagues at last Tuesday’s committee meeting in a vote to eliminate most of the planned January service cuts. This includes the proposed changes to Route 205. We will be taking final action on all of the proposed January service adjustements at next Tuesday’s Board meeting. I will report on the final outcome in an update to my website. In the meantime, thanks for your advocacy on behalf of the 205.
